Susi Hinz  is an artist whose multimedia practice explores entities as interfaces and transitions — between human identity and natural function, organic matter and technological systems.

Hinz’s artistic practice unfolds through hybrid constellations of material – often activated by inquiries into trans- and posthumanist theory and attuned to dialogues with contemporary neuroscience. Her sculptural works navigate the porous boundary between organic substance and technological structure, tracing emergent formations of materiality, identity, and perception in an era of embodied technologies.

The body appears not as a fixed entity, but as a fluid interface – malleable, permeable, overwritten by and interwoven with systems of technics. Shaped by her origins and the socio-economic aftermath of post-reunification East Germany, her objects resonate between industrial function, tactile labor, and conceptual precision. At the core lies a persistent question: What does it mean to have – or to become – a body, in a world where biology is programmable and identity increasingly diffuse?

Her approach to materials is guided by an acute sensitivity to their physical agency and symbolic charge. Through experimental configurations, new relations emerge – beyond taxonomic or binary frameworks. These assemblages become spaces of potential transformation, where the boundaries between body, machine, and social imagination momentarily dissolve.
